a very simple javascript based browser game. supposed to run on phones as well as PC but i don't have a phone modern enough to test it.
it's an RTS but things happen over a long space of time so you can set things going, set an alarm for when stuff needs doing and check back later. Best part is having a town on each server so you can always be doing something. The first bit, the tutorial, everything happens rather fast and you'll need to set some time aside if you want to make a new town i.e. start on a new server. However it soon slows to a crawl and you can keep jumping back to your town every so often. it tells you when everything will be ready so you close the game and come back later.
Not one for competitive players, it's more of an experience than a challenge. You'll soon learn there are many more powerful and successful players than you that have no commitments or regular sleep patterns and started when the server opened. There are some powerful teams who decimate any challenger but if you just keep to your own town you'll be okay. They often pick on noobs and avoid big towns so if you're dedicated to it they'll take one look at you and move on.
You can play in teams and stuff but it's not advised if you are new to the game as teams are pretty demanding. If you really get into it you can go far but for a bit of fun it's okay as long as you don't neglect your town for a while, kinda like any farming game in that respect.
If your town does get destroyed you can start again pretty much immediately so there's no real need for cheating by having multiple accounts. Rebuilding a damaged town and seeing noobs getting slaughtered by your defenses are awesome. Word of advice though, nobody likes a trapper. If you steal someone's valuable troops they will take extra special care and attention to kicking your ass no matter if they waste more resources than they get.
I advise you play as Gauls if you are just starting out even though you might be picked on a bit. Gauls last longest and can often crawl their way back from the pit of defeat though they never really get very far. Romans are for more experienced players who know the ins and outs of how to play and don't want to be a punching bag but have greater risk of defeated themselves if you don't know what you're doing. Teutons are really for pros. You need to be a hardcore Travian nerd to play as them. They often win and are pretty dangerous but if you don't know exactly what you are doing or don't have the time to dedicate yourself to this game you will wiped off the face of the earth.

Re: Travian Online
Jay plays this all the time but I just don't get the appeal. It is all numbers and stuff which I just can't deal with for a fun night It has no sound effects or animations when other games of the same nature do so why pick this one you can get owned by other players and then it deletes your progress every month as well!! so why even bother?!
Re: Travian Online
every 6-8 months actually
and other players leave you alone as long as you don't fall behind or attack them first

Re: Travian Online
you know a game is badass when
the first thing it asks you is what to put on your grave. Dark souls should have done this!
