Re: Avalon (SGI version)
i've only heard of this from japanese people even though the title is in english
basically you have a board like a landscape grid and a colored figurine of a certain hero to represent an army of similar people i.e. melee, long range and riders. you've also got a card for each type with stats on it and a stack of poker chips to represent the number of people in that army. the idea is to destroy the other color team's armies to win. every turn you get a moving turn and an attacking turn. in the moving turn you move the number of spaces that matches the number on the dice roll. to attack you roll a 6 sided dice and multiply the number of ap (attack potential) on your card by the number on the dice to make your attack power. when being attacked you roll the dice and multiply the number of dp (defense potential) on your card by the number on the dice to make your defense power. for every point of attack power that is higher than the defense power a poker chip is taken from the defending stack. every army has a different element and some elements are stronger against others in a rock, paper, scissors fashion. you have to move so that an enemy is immediately around your figure to attack them but if you stand your figures in a line you can do a team attack where all the armies in the chain attack the same enemy at once. you are allowed 3 armies at the same time.

Re: Avalon (SGI version)
apparently it's based on an ancient board game the japanese made up based on battles, which basically makes it japanese chess
